Dr. Randolph Cook


Dr. Cook is director of the Orthopedic division of the Center for Advanced Orthopedic & Pain Management. He is one of only a handful of surgeons uniquely board certified by both the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in Orthopedic Surgery as well as the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons and a Candidate Member of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Cook received his bachelor degree in Biology from the University of Virginia. He then spent five years working in Sports Television Production prior to pursuing his medical career. His sports television production experience included positions as associate producer, director, and producer for Jefferson Pilot Teleproductions producing ACC Basketball and ACC Championship Series. He also worked for ESPN, USA Network, and CBS Sports.

He then embarked upon his medical career and received his medical degree in 1989 from the University of Virginia. He completed nine years of surgical training at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville, completing both his General Surgery and Orthopedic surgery residencies there in 1998.

Dr. Cook has been in private practice in Orthopedic surgery since 1998. He has extensive experience in multiple aspects of general


orthopedic and pediatric orthopedic surgery. He has particular interests in minimally invasive techniques as they apply to Sports Medicine, Fracture Care and Total Joint Replacement Surgery. Dr. Cook has experience in the latest advanced techniques in Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Surgery, ACL Repair, Partial Joint Replacement with Unicompartmental and Patellofemoral Replacement as well as Resurfacing Arthroplasty. He has performed minimally invasive fracture care with pediatric flexible nails and less invasive stabilization systems as well as locking plate systems allowing for smaller incisions, less pain and earlier restoration of function.
